You may remember that we adopted Affie the duck. We had him all summer and really enjoyed him but we knew when winter came we would have to find another place for him. Our friends Lynn and John said they would take him to the farm. So they came and picked him up before the snow started flying. They had one chicken at the time and they weren't sure how they would get along but soon realized that they were becoming best friends. A short time later they added more chickens and Affie continued to be best friend's with the chicken "Crow". Then something changed..Affie started to become very aggressive and it was discovered that Affie was not a female but a male, and also not a duck, but a Pilgrim Goose! Needless to say the best friends were no more. Affie had to be separated from the other chickens. Lynn and John found a home for Affie at another farm where there were more Pilgrim Geese! We think he has now found his true home.
This past January we became proud parents of our darling "Lady Bea". Our Oscar got very sick and had to go to Kitty Heaven. The house seemed so empty without a cat so we decided to adopt one. My sister had the perfect one! Last summer she brought home 3 kittens that had been abandoned by their mother from the Landfill where she works. Her and my mom had to feed them out of an eye dropper. They all survived! I had seen Ozzie when I went to visit mom and I really liked her but knew that Oscar would not like me bringing home another cat. We decided to bring home "Ozzie" for a trial run and see how it worked. We loved her from the start but thought her name didn't suit her and that is when she became Lady Beatrice!
In March we became proud grandparents to a bouncing Cockapoo puppy named "Hurley" I call him my Georgie Peorgie! His Aunt Asia tolerates him and will sometimes play with him but most of the time she just bosses him around. His other Aunt Cheyenne just loves him! She lets him crawl all over her and bit her. And Lady Bea loves him too. Those two are so comical to watch. They both like sleeping in bed with us which sometimes can get a little crowded.
We decided to pour the cement floor in the Hog Barn. We had it done on April 12th. It is awesome to have the floor done. We decided not to do solar because it's too expensive. Maybe some day we will be able to do solar. We had our friend Adam dig a trench for water, electric, gas, and cable to the barn. We had a some issue with the trench- it collapsed in several places which turned this easy job into an all day job! We have now been able to smooth all the holes and ruts that we created while constructing the barn and it is seeded with grass. We are still deciding if we should paint or put steel on the barn. For this year we will just let it grey and decide next summer what to do.
